  • For AT&T and Version hit the * key
  • For Sprint hit the 1 key
  • For T Mobile its the # key

Check how many minutes you have used

  • For Version and T Mobile type #646# (or #min#)
  • For AT&T type in *646# or (*min#)
  • For Sprint just type in *4

Unlock your phone

Chances are, your cell phone is tethered to one particular service provider. If you try to leave that company, your phone won’t work. It’s locked. If you travel to another country and try to use another company’s cell phone service on your old phone, that won’t work either. Locked again.

It doesn’t have to be this way, though. Depending on what kind of phone you have and what company you purchase cell phone service from, you might be able to unlock your phone.

The process of unlocking a phone is actually quite simple, and doesn’t require any technical knowledge. Most older phones have a numeric code that will unlock them. For a fee, some service providers will even give you the proper unlock code for your phone. However, you can also call the customer service number for your provider and simply demand they give it to you the code because you are going overseas to fight crime.
